New TiVo app puts holiday deals at viewers’ fingertips

Virgin Media today announced the arrival of a Teletext Holidays app for its revolutionary TiVo service. The new app sees the iconic Teletext brand return to TV screens, with Virgin Media TiVo customers benefitting from a fresh new look and feel designed for ‘connected’ devices and showcasing a broad range of holidays for viewers looking to seek out great value travel deals.

Available through TiVo’s ‘Apps and Games’ section, Teletext Holidays makes it easy for viewers to discover a great range of travel deals through just a few simple button presses from the comfort of their living rooms without needing to fire up a laptop or computer. Customers can use the app to find the holiday that’s right for them from beach breaks in the Med, to romantic weekends away, to tropical island escapes and luxury cruise holidays.

Whenever the travel bug takes hold, TiVo customers can use the new app to search for holiday deals by destination and departure point. What’s more, they can even get the lowdown on the local sights and scenery with a range of enticing videos and guides about their chosen destination. Once on holiday, customers can use TiVo’s TV Guide app on their mobiles to set up recordings in a matter of seconds*, so they’ll never miss a minute of their favourite shows even while they’re off on their travels.

Victoria Sanders, Teletext Holidays managing director, said: “Searching for holidays on the television is what our brand is famous for so the partnership with Virgin Media is an exciting new direction for us. We’ve invested in creating an app which is simple, inspiring and practical to use. The joy for customers is being able to browse through available holidays, view hotel images and destination video guides all from the comfort of their sofa.”

Aleks Habdank, director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media said, “The flexibility of Virgin Media’s TiVo service has enabled Teletext Holidays to bring its much-loved holiday deals back to TV. TiVo customers can now go from watching their favourite holiday show to planning a getaway of their own with just a few clicks of their TiVo remote. This is just the kind of interactive experience that we know our customers get excited about, and with TiVo’s constantly evolving range of innovative apps and services there really is something for everyone to enjoy.”

Teletext Holidays joins a whole host of apps available on Virgin Media's TiVo service, including BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Spotify, games and many more. The Teletext Holidays app demonstrates TiVo’s ability to bring new audiences to brand partners, highlighting the potential for partners to generate revenue through new applications and services.
